I want to introduce you all to a wonderful young boy Andreas’
Just two weeks ago I came across a story written by Trudy Van, which was all about little Andreas’. As it turns out Andreas’ is Trudy Van’s nephew, and she is in the process of helping to raise awareness of her nephews condition. His family is also facing some major challenges as well.
I have been in contact with Trudy and Andreas’s aunt Cecilia who are helping care for the family, as they prepare for the next operation in just one week from now. Andreas’ has a bad heart condition he was born with, and will need a new heart eventually. To date he has already had operations to keep him going , just how many I am not sure of. After his last operation they said his heart was not able to be repaired any further, and he would need a new heart.
The problem now faced by Andreas’ is , he can not have a heart transplant at his age for this condition, as rejection would be assured . I have been told that they need to keep him going until he is 11 yrs old, when he would be a far better candidate for a successful heart transplant. Andreas’ has only just turned 5 yrs old, and this operation is yet another type of repair, they are all praying will buy him the few more yrs he requires, before he can take a transplant.
We All Can Help
I am passionate about helping children, and feel that we all can be of help to his family, by helping Trudy keep everyone updated with the challenges, as they face these very stressful times. Besides the worry of Andreas’, the family told me they are in desperate need of genuine assistance, over and above every day needs. They are a very proud family that has always managed in the past to make ends meet, and did what ever needed to be done , without handouts or charity.
Taking It’s Toll
It is obvious now this family needs help desperately in order to survive these very demanding and stressful times.I will be offering all my support through this blog , in conjunction with the blog that Trudy and friends have for Andreas.
I would love for all to visit the blog http://andreas-a-new-heart.blogspot.com/ and show your support, just by leaving a comment and becoming a follower of the blog. That alone shows them that people care and they are not alone.
Part Of The Doctors Report
Here is a portion of the doctors report that is on Trudy Van’s blogspot blog, which you can read in full at the link given earlier. I would encourage you to visit and read the full report, leave a comment, become a follower of the blog , and if you can find it in your heart to donate some thing , there is information for that as well.
“The options are to continue his present medical treatment, to perform what would be an “unpredictable” attempt at coronary bypass surgery and thirdly heart transplantation – the last is really only a theoretical possibility in view of his high preformed antibody status and the rarity of obtaining paediatric donor hearts. As such I will be discussing these three options with my colleagues at Red Cross Childrens’ Hospital at the coming Friday meeting – thereafter I would like to meet you and his family once again after we as a team have decided what the best options are.
I am sorry that this message has not given you the answers, which you were perhaps hoping for but it is only correct for us to give you an honest report of our present opinions regarding the management of your son. We would obviously dearly like to help him in the best way possible. I will get back to you after our Friday meeting.”
Kind regards
